Making good things to eat and drink

Topsham, a busy commercial town that was once one of the great maritime trading centres of Britain, as well as a centre for ship building and trade, may be somewhat more sedate these days. However, its busy independent retail businesses are now complemented by the town’s own food and drink production businesses.

Good Game makes own-cured charcuterie and salumi using free-range pork from local farms. Pebblebed produces a range of award-winning wines and sparkling wines from grapes grown just outside of Topsham at Clyst St George and Ebford. Kate Hodges produces wonderful bespoke cakes, Greg Towning grows chillies pretty much just for the heck of it, Frances Nieduszynska hand-produces magnificent extra virgin olive oil from olives grown on her estate in Tuscany which she brings direct to Topsham, and Kate Hodges simply loves baking bespoke cakes.
